MOTHER'S DAY

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, mumsie's mummy never read mumsie's blog...but mumsie wants to share her thoughts with who soever read this blog. Every 1st Sunday of May is MOTHER'S DAY' and come this Sunday, some of us who are fortunate enough will be able to celebrate this wonderful day with her...come to think of it mumsie never got a chance to personally celebrate this day with her....(I suppose it was not the 'in thing' during mumsie's younger days in fact it is so 'in' now that Mother's Day is too commercialised so much so that we tend to forget the real essence of these celebrations)

She was 'tied' to us for more than nine months (via our umbilical cord) wonder if we look at that belly buton of ours do we ever think what had happen to the other end now??? From the very very beginning we depended on this extraordinary creation of GOD (ie Mother) Then she gave birth to us, fed us (hopefully via her breasts...by the way mumsies breast fed all her 'little ones')
took care of all our needs...(spiritually and materially) supported us during our school going days
(praying praying praying for our exams..or to be picked for games...to represent the school , or other competitions...or prefect board ect ect) and during our Uni days.....until now I'm sure mumsie mum still prays for me!!! She never fails to remember mumsie's birthday...always ring to wish mumsie quote' GOOD LUCK GOOD HEALTH AND GOD BLESS' each and every year.
That's why mumsie will hang on to her hand phone....waiting and expecting excitedly for that call......funny just a call....but it is so satisfying.....SHE REMEMBERS!!!!!!! ..
This is the PERSON who laughs with us and also cries with us....Today, as parents, we understand the amount of pain and anxiety she would have endured when we suffered from all
forms of sickness (even the ugly pimples....??? on our face) and failures in our lives.
Mumsie remembers tons tons of advice given by this LADY when ever mumsie runs to her with tons and tons of problems....eg....Cat was 'playing up a lot' with unexplained temperature and tantrums..during mumsie's 2nd pregnancy...and then mumsie learned from her that this is what the chinese believe....'FIGHTING FOR FLOWER' (use Cantonese for this phrase and you may get it better)....believe it or nor mumsie still use this to comfort her patients...
During mumsie's first year as a daughter-in-law mumsie rang her for help - to choose a nice jade bracelet for ma-in-law's birthday ....(still remembers her teachings). . not only did she praises mumsie for such deed she also reassured mumsie that mumsie needn't 'do the same for her' cos she will never be jealous...and that mumsie must try her best to 'love and respect her ma-in-law
(she too understands that financially mumsie would not be able to buy 2 jade bracelets for both ma-in-law and mother) Mumsie will never dare to ring her to complain about Ma-in-law...cos she will never be on mumsie's side...her 'bilblical teachig' is Love her and respect her AND NEVER COMPARE YOURSELF with her treatment with sis-in-law...it is only natural that all mothers will love their daughters more......!!!!!!!
One of her many quotations which still rings in mumsie's ears...is 'Love your brothers and sisters' cos the Budhist believe that you can get married to the same guy in your next life...(ie husband and wife for many many future lifes) .but one will never be brothers or sisters ever again in your next life..so appreciate one another NOW!! And she will never allow us to talk bad or complain about any of her brother or sisters.....!!!
When we were young, we took all her sacrifices for granted. It is only when we become parents that we begin to appreciate the finer qualities of the love and affection of our mothers. AND mumsie is very very very sure that even in her old age she will continue to do things for her children if it means making our lives easier.......
Some of our mothers could also be dead and gone. WAHTEVER THE STATE she may be in, let us reflect a little on this extraordinary creation of GOD. There is only one person who enjoys sacrificing her time and energy without any gauranteed reward, as it is done out of LOVE.
Now what about those adopted children...Years ago mumsie read something......a teacher was asking a group of 'play-shcool' children why they love their mummy....after a few of them came out to share what great things their mummy did for them blah blah balh...then this little girl commented 'All of you love your mummy because you all came out of her tummy....but my mummy gave birth to me via her heart...cos I'm ADOPTED!!! (mumsie remember cutting this out and gave this passage to one of mumsie's friend's daughter when she left home to enter university..cos she was an adopted child......
To a mother, there is nothing more comforting than to see her children in good health and happiness..
As children, if we can convince her that she was the source and inspiration for our souccess and happiness, she would be the happiest peron in the WORLD!!!!!!!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
