THE WORLD OF ORCHIDS

Orchids can charm and tantalize, fascinate and frustrate....They provide endless satisfaction, as mumsie develop a special bond with them and mumsie can spend hours daily spraying, weekly watering and feeding them.
Every year JB (Danga Bay to be exact) will hold an international orchid show...and mumsie accompanied by Sister Yap and Miss Wong will be there!!

A wide range of orchids can be seen and there is bargain galore toooooo....cos many orchid orchard owners around JB will be there selling their blooms....and mumsie will fill up Sister Yap's car with them....(and every year we'll regret for not bringing a van!!!)
This year we were not able to finish the show because of the thunder storm but still it didn't stop mumsie from buying her 'car-load' of orchid
home

Mumsie used to have this....'cattleya' but this is not an easy plant to grow....It only flowered once or twice a year...so mumsie gave up on them....mumsie likes her orchid to produce blooms throughout the year...cos once they bloom they last at least one to 2 months then after a month or so they bloom again..

This is one of the blooms that mumsie cartered home .. Phalaenopsis are everybody's orchid - they can be grown with great ease - require minimum of care to produce numerous flowers over an extended period.

And this too!

Different countries brought out their best bloom

This display is from Korea

Sister Yap and Miss Wong though they don't grow orchid but they will accompany mumsie yearly to the show.....to help mumsie to carter all her blooms home at the end of the show........

And there were prices for the different countries' displays...Kore carried the home 3rd price!

Oncidium or 'golden showers' is one of mumsie's favourite....they are always in bloom in mumsie's garden.... and mumsie managed to carter a few pots home @ half price!!! Didn't need Lilian Too to tell mumsie that this is a Feng Sui flower. .because mumsie likes its name...'golden showers'......

Should have brought Daddy along...he will be a better photographer....mumsie's photography doesn't do them any justice...but then if mumsie brought him along mumsie might not be able to buy any blooms...home....

Indonesia's display

Wonder why Australia's display had a 'hooded man' ?????? At the end of the day mumsie learnt quite a few tips from the expert...cos they were a few of them hanging around...selling their wares...fertilisers...as well as orhids..so mumsie brought out quite a few of mumsie's problems for them to solve....Hope to meet them again NEXT YEAR @ next year's international orchid show......

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Mumsie would like to share this with whosoever is reading mumsie's blog with something that mumsie read not so long ago...

There was this little poor kid, in the heart of winter, looking at a store window, wishing he could have a pair of shoes and socks to withstand the cold and walk the streets of New York.
As the 10-year old stood, barefooted and shivering, a well-dressed lady approached him and said, "My little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in the window?"
"I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes," was the boy's reply.
The lady took him by the hand and went into the store, and asked the salesman to get a half dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel.
She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with a towel.
The salesman returned with the socks . Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she then bought him a pair of shoes, and tying up the remaining pairs of scoks gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said,"No doubt, my lttle fellow, you feel more comfortable?"
As she turned to go' the boy caught her by the hand , and looking up in her face, with tears
in his eyes, answered the question with these words: "ARE you God's WIFE?"

CSM'S 19TH ANNIVERSARY..

The entrance to the `PARTY' Managed to get Nestle to 'donate' the balloons! How time flies....On 15/5/07 Century Specialist Maternity celebrates its 19th anniversay...Well that's how the last few months we saw a few (3 to be exact) of CSM's "babies" delivering their babies in CSM....
By popular demand this year the 'makan' comes from 'Restaurant Indonesian Corner' This is their BRYIANI RICE

This lamb is not bad...no 'mutton smell'

Curry chicken is yummy too!

The birthday nooooodles!!

One of the Birthday cake...this is from Wyeth
This cheesy cake...is from Stem-Life..one of the company which collects cord blood for our patients

This chocalate cake is from our STAFF

Three cakes taste just as 'yummy'

Then we had to cater for the "VEGI - FOLKS'
So this is vegi-curry ordered from the Vegi Restaurant
Sweet and sour vegi......dunno its name...cooked with pineapples and tomatoes....NOT BAD

This is 'vegi chicken cooked in herbs...whick everybody said its niceeeeee!

Another vegi dish from the Vegi corner

Ah we had to bring down some of our lodgers...
univited guests from CSM'S nursery....On and off we do have parents who leave their babies behind for us to look after for a week (until the umbilical cord drops) or until full moon . And these 'big kakak and abang' likes company...so will yell quite a bit if left in the nursery...so to keep them quiet gotta to bring them out ....'play time' for them...
This is one of our 'yella' about 12 days old...

CSM Doctors and Dr Lim the paedetrician

Natali (the staff from 'stem-life' company) with another univited quest...the staff calls her NINA...who got all 'dolled' up for the party...hair-bands .ect She managed to collect quite a bit of nice dresses from the staff...

Even attracted the attention of the boss...Nina or Jesmine or Kakak has been with us for 1.5 months and is the 'darling' of most of the staff...Must say she's a 'darling' who 'eats (or drink) and sleeps' most of the time....Not a 'yella'

Waiting to attack the food
We invited our neighbours...Century Medical
Centre's staff...their clerk and Theatre Nurse
This 2 fella jump queue...

The entrance does looks 'grand'

Mr Robert Yong the admin officer

Too much variety...Food Glorious Food

Every year we had to use one of the wards for the celebrations....so gotta to push all the beds to the side to act as 'sofas'

Mmmmmm Food is nice...gotta to watch my waist line.....

Must be 'talking shop'

All these staff had been with CSM for more than 10 years!!!
