OUR JOURNEY TO ROME

Hi Everybody! Mumsie is back from her Italian Hols. Gosh was it HOT! (Around 38 - 40 degrees !!! ) So you can just immagine why mumsie gotta "cover" herself with hats long sleeves and long pants (at least 3/4 pants) so that mumsie can keep her "fair complexion"
) Well before we leave home for our hols..its tradition that dadda will light some candles at mumsie's altar..followed by some prayes cos we gotta ask Our God to 'guide and watch' over us thru out our hols and also a save journey to and fro !!!
See here we are all ready to leave...5 of us.. .. including the photographer...Joel.

This is the guy and his van..who is going to take us across to S'pore to board our plane to Istanbul then to Rome...Yeah we gotta go via Istanbul cos we are taking the Turkish flight...(S'pore airlines, -our first choice, MAS, and Emerites are all fully BOOKED)
At S'pore Changi air-port

So very light now..cos we've checked in and 'dumped' all our heavy luggage!!!
After about 11 hours we reached Istanbul 's Ataturk Airport....we were here some 10 years ago...mumsie and her family toured Turkey some 10 years ago...one of our Best Holidays and we had a most 'knowledgeable' tour guide
Guess what is so interesting???

Ya all the cigaretes sold here have 'warning signs'

See the warning BIG and 'harmful'

Wonder why people still smokes????

It is like commiting suicide??????

Mumsie would have taken a few more of these if not for the air-port security...He 'shooed' me off!!! "No photos" he exclaimed...ooops..gotcha

Istanbul air-port is BZ BZ...during the 5 mins
whilst waiting for our plane to park...mumsie counted about not less than 5-6 planes taking off
r Waiting for our next plane to Rome....

After another 2 hours + flight we landed in ROME

The very efficient 'GLOBUS' agents were waiting for us at Rome's Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport...about 30 km from Rome Yep we chose Globus...and would recommend it to all our friends...

At the air-port we waited for only about 15 mins for them to collect more tourists...from all over...then off to our hotel Cicerone which is right in the heart of the City (was informed that if we take a taxi...expect to pay approximately 50 EURO (ONE EURO is 5 Ringgit)
After arrival and checked into our hotel we were given some time before we meet up with our Tour Director 'Eleanor' -a pretty and pleasant lady and our travelling companions FOR A SPECIAL WELCOME DINNER in one of Rome's lively restaurants. So we walked across a bridge..to the Pincio gardens and Piazza del Popolo

As we walk across the bridge towards the Pincio garden ..see pretty isn't it?? By the way this is the Tiber River...and we had Joel and his map as our guide...
We were told that we should visit a small church around here...and when we got there its 'siesta' time...people in charge gone for afternoon nap Any way we were able to go in after about 10 mins wait
I suppose Mc Donald is really 'world wide' On our way back to the hotel we got into Mc to get some cold drinks!!!!

This is the small church...waiting for the doors to open

Suddenly we saw these fellas giving out ice-cold pepsi for FREE!!! See the amout of cans in the truck???????
Piazza del Popolp
It IS SOOO HOT that this girl just put her head at this fountain and the water is icy cold!!!

The lion's mouth is sprouting icy cold water which one can collect and use it at drinking water...very common in Rome...to see water fountains everywhere and people collecting them with drinking bottles...

Inside the church with beutiful painting all around it

Still inside the church then about 1/2 walk back to our hotel which is situated right in the centre of Rome
Our first night in Rome at the Welcome Diner we met Josephine and Joseph...will tell you more about them later

During the dinner the 'oldie' at a corner was trying to sing amongst the noisy 'diners' maybe none of us understood what he was singing, cos it was all in ITALIAN or we were too absorbed in our food and talking to NEW Friends...Any way there was much wine to taste too...white and red wined...After this is back to hotel to sleep... real tired after more than 24 hours without a bed to put my head...and wake up call is
6.30 am...I think but mumsie was awake by 5.00 AM!!!!
Well shall be telling you more about my hols....and more and more and more pics..in my next next next postings.....Gotta go on my treadmill now...cos mumsie put on more than 2 kilos...
Chao!!!!!
