Few of them in this tank...and they are not cheap.. Look at the PRICE!!!
Took a photo of this one before cooking. A geoduck is not a duck in any way, shape, or form. It is a species of large saltwater clam which is native to the northern Pacific coasts of Canada and the US. They live burried deep in the san of ocean beaches and feed on smaller sea creatures. sometimes reaching the age of 100+ years...is one ot the oldest animals in the world, geoducks can live as long as 146 years Now you know why mumsie wants geoduck to be in dadda's birthday menu....good feng sui....long life..
The very first time we saw geoduck was years and years ago about 15 yrers??? during one of our hols to China...mumsie and dadda thought they look like elephant tasks....The name seems to have originated from an Native American word meaning "to dig deep"
After the chef has sliced it into thin slices they were laid on top of a block of ice with some vegetables around it...It taste real nice (better be for this little bit it cost $300++ It can either be eaten without cooking (taste a bit crispy eaten raw -taste better than abalone!!)
For those who doesn't like it raw they can cook it first with this hot soup...like steam boat....but it taste a bit 'rubbery' after cooking so mumsie still likes it raw with a bit of wasabe....it is oomp!!
Since it is christmas season the restaurant was nicely "seasonally" decorated with their waitress all dressed with santarina hats.
David is in Shanghai..so he was not here...and Celine brought along some of her friends...
The tradition birthday noodles was not bad
After dishing out the noodles they added a small red quail egg...
Oh we had other sea-food stuff too ...BIG Clams...cooked with belachan ,,steam fish....yummy

After dinner gotta rush home to wait for the carrollers....ya they were coming tonight...actually mumsie initially wants them to come on Sunday...but gotta change the dates cos Cat is coming home Sunday night and some of us might have to go to Changi to 'welcome' her and Joel home!!
(Time really flies.....remember blogging about dadda's birthday last year...and also also about the carrollers @ our home too....seems like just a ???few months back???)
Oh we didn't get him a cake cos don't think dadda likes us to sing his birthday song in public!!!
